Hi Everyone,

My name is Patch. Many of you have come to ride me, and I know I have given you a good ride, coz I am the best trekking horse!! (No I am says Jimmy. No I am says Ginger Bear, and Angus!!!!) O.K O.K O.K. We are all the best. Does that keep everyone happy. So I am ONE of the best trekking horses and like the others I have been taught how to do that and Kate and Abi and the other guides have taught you to get me to want to give you the lovely ride you are looking for, because we want to build the build beyond belief.

Here is my story

Well there I was hiding, actually, in one of my spots up the hill at the end of a lovely warm early Summer day, and there came the humans come to collect us with their halters. I heard the calls and could see the other horses going down, and I thought hmmmm there is something up with this I can tell. We are like that us horses we have a great head for change this late hour was not a normal trek time. I just waited. I have heard Kate say it is good for her to climb the hill, so I would just see if she could find me and climb up to where I was. Well she managed of course. Kate is particularly hard to put one over. She is my Mum after all. She bred me! She didn’t actually give birth to me though. Anyway I was right. Here we were all bundled up three on each hand of Kate, me with Connie and Bandit and others. You can see me at the top of the page with my Summer cover on. I have my own herd you see, the ponies. (Never mind that it is only because I am a fatty and I am in the short grass paddocks to eat hay and not get foundered ) We turned to go down the Mill’s property, which is unusual. I knew something was up. On we went into the Wilson’s, through the gate and up into the new paddock. Wow I said grass galore. Cool. Ohoh, not for us we go into the smaller paddock with hay-again!! I have a big treeline on the South side of the paddock and a lovely big clean water trough. I can see what is going on from here and I really like it. We have an undercover yard that we tie up to and no more wind and rain at the hitching rail. Cool. I took a really lovely woman from Christchurch riding yesterday. I overheard her conversation with Sophia and Kate. She had done hunting and lots of riding in England. Gee I hope I was still the best horse she has ridden and we do some more.

Come and see me in our new home just round the corner in Wilson’s

Bye,

Patch the handsome appaloosa

I joined Kate and Abi in the very final stage of the move to the new venue on Wednesday 3 December. I took a few pix and here is my blog post!

Pleased as punch

Now to go back and get the horses!

More about the shift – with pictures!

Moving in the twilight

We made two trips, it was one of the rare occasions I was away from the computer and out in the field, I loved being among these beautiful shining animals and led a few myself! Good to be part of this momentous occasion.

This is Ginger Bear, the horse I led along with a few others. I hear a lot of horse talk and, you know, I think we bonded a little in that journey over the hill.

Home at last!

Here they go, into their new paddocks! We moved all fourteen and they are happy to be there.

A lot of people helped to make this move a success! Thank you all, what a team.
