Kate Tapley Horse Treks operates from earthquake damaged Christchurch. We have survived, the staff are ok, the horses take this in their stride. If you are in Christchurch we hope you are ok, and on the road to recovery.
We are open for riding at all three venues.With horses and riding you can 'Build a Bond Beyond Belief' that will heal and sustain. We are looking to develop an earthquake recovery programme 'Ride to Recovery' more details soon.

Kate Tapley Horse Treks (KTHT) specialises in applied Natural Horsemanship, overnight horse treks and short rides. Kate and her trained staff have developed excellence in their ability to facilitate & teach others to benefit from the horse/human connection.
Trekking in beautiful New Zealand foothills & native forest is one of the many activities KTHT offers. Over the years, the central connection theme has become the core for lessons, riding programmes for young riders and adults, riding weekends, camps and holidays, multi-day riding and overnighters, team building & leadership training.

High above Akaroa at Purple Peak Retreat, 15 minutes from the township, KTHT operates its higest venue with views over Banks Peninsula, the Akaroa harbour and the East Coat and Pacific Ocean. |
With trails over the Port Hills on the edge of Christchurch, KTHT has a thriving community of people who love to ride, and learn about the human/horse connection. Programmes for young riders and adults and overnight trips to Governors Bay make Otahuna the ideal place to learn and enjoy riding. |
Mt. Lyford Horse Riding
Set in the foothills of the Southern Alps, 145 km North of Christchurch, Mt. Lyford offers stunning alpine riding. We offer a 3 day ride to Hanmer Springs, all day rides and short rides. This is the place to have the best horsey holiday ever. |
